Local sustainable energy conversion

Renewable natural resources are used in Chelemhá for converting energy. Electric power is generated with a small hydroelectric power plant. Chelemhá Lodge is lighted with LED lights of low energy consumption. Meals are cooked and bred and cakes are baked mainly on a wood stove/oven. The same heat is used to heat up the water in the lodge's bathrooms. Firewood is harvested from rapidly re-growing secondary-growth scrub within Chelemhá Reserve.
